Sewed all Morning!

I made two dresses today using old t-shirts and two yards of fabric. Nice, comfy Spring dresses! I was so happy to find they were so easy to make. I used two t-shirts that no longer fit, I took them in, removed the sleeves on the white one, seamed up the fabric, and sewed it together. I let the stretch of the shirts gather the skirt fabric for me. Now all I have to do is hem them. I was inspired by the dresses at Lil Blue Boo and other sites that showed upcycling t-shirts.

I was so pleased with my wonderful self that I went forward with the next item on my mental list of things to make: a baby bib for a baby shower that my daughter is going to tomorrow. Her friend from high school is now a teacher, too, and she is due in June. I thought the bib would take about 10 minutes to make but it turned out to take about an hour and a half (had to rip out all the binding and start over!) Grrr! Next one I make will be flip and sew! Stupid binding!
Here it is:

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting.

I do some simple sewing and some simple quilting. I've made three quilts so far and I always do them pillow case style (I think that's the same thing you're talking about when you say flip and sew) because I'm too intimidated to try binding.

  2. What a clever idea for dresses - they do indeed look perfect for summer! And the bib is adorable - sorry it was aggravating, but just think how perfect it looks now. All worth it! Thanks for sharing and enjoy the weekend!

  7. sweet little bib! I've made a couple and the only way I succeed at the binding is to use lots of pins - seems like a waste of time on such a little project, but saves me from hand-stitching or ripping it out. But flipping would be even easier :)

  8. Very nice - you have been busy and productive! :) Thank you for visiting my sew and tell. I do all my quilting on the machine although I do like other forms of handwork, but just not quilting... ;)
