Journal Cover and Row Robin Completed!

Today was our July meeting of the Baltimore Modern Quilt Guild.  I finished up two sewing projects earlier this week to bring along.  We exchanged journal covers (and the journals, actually! Just composition books.)  This is the one I made.

Back of Journal

I used some gray strips with my current favorite fabric, Stitched in Color.  I made a little button for the front and searched high and low to find the hair band (my girls use them but they are all grown up and live in their own houses!).  I quilted mine but I noticed not everybody did.  I kind of made up the FMQ as I went along (sort of a maze of straight lines).
Here's the front of the journal with the cute covered button.

The other thing I made for the meeting was the first row of our row robin quilt.  We exchanged them and someone else took mine home to add another row to it.  Each row has different rules (the next row needs to include triangles).  I am hoping to get a little neighborhood  :)

A house, some trees, stars, and some roses!

I put it up on my design wall to take some pictures but of course I didn't want to take down the strip quilt-I am almost ready to start sewing the blocks to each other.  Five more blocks to go.  It definitely brightens up my sewing room!

Of course I brought home a beautiful journal cover made by Diane.  And someone else's row to add a row to by the August meeting.

If you are in the Baltimore area, please feel free to join us!  We are a fun and varied group!  Some people in our group have been quilting for over 50 years and some for six months.  Here is a link to the BMQG blog.
