Kim and Mike's Wedding Quilt

We were lucky enough to be invited to a wedding in the Outer Banks in June.  It was a fabulous wedding!  We have known the beautiful bride since she was 8 months old (she was cute then, too!).  Her mom and dad are close to us in a way that friends who were there to help you raise your kids are.

And it was gorgeous!

We had never been to the Outer Banks and we had a lovely time.  All of our kids, spouses, and only grandchild (so far) came with us.

So I had to make a modern quilt for the newlyweds.
I used some of the squares my guild made when I taught them improv curved piecing a few months back.

The cute hippo fabric was from IKEA last summer.  Some of the black and white prints were from Stephanie at Kwiltzbystephanie (I won some of her scraps awhile back).
I got lots of practice cutting the curves freehand with my rotary cutter and sewing them up without pins.

I FMQ it in white and bound it with some Denise Schmidt grey dots.  Luckily, the newlyweds are happy with the colors!
